Part V

For some time now younger girls have not only been bombarded with stick thin models, but stick thin celebrities. For those models who say that appear thin because of their height, age and genetics, what about those celebrities who have recently lost a lot of weight? Are they too, going to blame it on genetics even though they were never this thin before?

Let’s take a popular example, Nicole Richie. The public has been accusing Nicole Richie of being anorexic for some time now. However, she insists that she has lost weight in a healthy manner. Loosing weight can be good is you’re worried for your health, however with this “thin is in” society, weight loose has been taken to new extremes. Here are a few before and after pictures of Nicole Richie.

Celebrities are beginning to think that they too, just like models, need to be extremely thin in order to be considered beautiful. Where would they get that idea? Perhaps it’s from the fashion industry, which is constantly showing people pictures of extremely thin models and telling us that they are gorgeous. Many models believe that the thinner they are, the more likely they are to get jobs. They also believe that being extremely thin is a way to help them stand apart from other models, in the competitive world of fashion industry. Are celebrities starting to have this mentality as well? The weight regulation won’t only be helping models from developing eating disorders, but maybe will encourage celebrities to put on some weight as well.
